Fight Against The Triple Threat In Teenager Living With Disabilities (FATTTLID

What we Do

Sensitization/Creating Awareness/Outreach Program!

At Serene Haven, we are dedicated to raising awareness about the triple threat of gender-based violence, adolescent pregnancies, and new HIV infections in the Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Laikipia, and Tharaka Nithi Counties. Our mission is to create an environment that breaks free from negative cultural and gender norms, especially those that perpetuate sexual abuse against children, including children living with disabilities. We firmly believe that primary schools, secondary schools, and colleges have the power to effect change in very young adolescents, adolescents, and youth, particularly when we foster cooperation among children, youth, parents, and teachers. These educational institutions serve as exceptional entry points for transforming negative sexual and reproductive health outcomes among children and youth.

Our Approach

We employ a comprehensive approach to our program. For children, we utilize innovative technology and audiovisual tools such as animation, music, and short films. By breaking down complex concepts and subjects into easily understandable and memorable forms, we ensure effective learning experiences.

Additionally, we provide training for teachers and caregivers in two important thematic areas:

  1. Foundational Training: We equip educators and caregivers with knowledge about the triple threat and child protection. This training creates a solid foundation for understanding and addressing the issues at hand.

  2. Standard Operating Procedures: We educate participants on rescue procedures, psycho-social support, access to justice, and the reintegration of survivors into the community. By providing clear guidelines and procedures, we empower teachers and caregivers to respond appropriately in challenging situations.

Results

Our efforts yield impactful results in the following ways:

  1. Increased Protection: Through our program, we contribute to the increased protection of children from the triple threat. By educating and empowering children, parents, teachers, and caregivers, we create a safer environment for children to grow and thrive.

  2. Reduced Prevalence Rates: Our aim is to significantly reduce the prevalence rates of the triple threat in the entire Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Laikipia, and Tharaka Nithi Counties. By creating awareness and providing resources, we actively work towards eradicating these issues.

  3. Policy Formulation: The lessons we learn from our program are instrumental in formulating policies that guide HIV and children protection. We collaborate with policymakers to ensure that our insights and experiences are incorporated into effective strategies.

  4. Empowering the Next Generation: Ultimately, we strive for a future where both boys and girls can reach their optimal personal and professional growth unhindered by the triple threat. By addressing these issues head-on, we pave the way for a generation that is empowered, resilient, and free from the burdens imposed by gender-based violence, adolescent pregnancies, and new HIV infections.

Join us in our mission to create a brighter and safer future for children and youth. Together, we can make a lasting impact and create a society where everyone can thrive.
